Lil Wayne drops 23-track album featuring collaborations with the late XXXtentacion, Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Ashanti, Travis Scott and more.
The secret countdown, as TMZ uncovered, is over and Lil Wayne’s “The Carter V” is now available, as anyone on social media can attest to. The release has absolutely taken over Twitter’s top trending topics.
The album’s release quickly pushed the NFL and its “Thursday Night Football” game out of the limelight. Suddenly, the top trending topics were various collaborators and song titles off of the release including “Wayne,” “Kendrick,” “Mona Lisa,” “Ashanti,” “Snoop,” “Dark Side of the Moon,” “Open Safe,” “Mack Maine,” “Open Letter” and of course “#CarterV.”
It was a powerful statement about Lil Wayne’s dominance in the rap industry, and his powerhouse performance didn’t stop with taking over social media. Almost immediately, “Tha Carter V” emerged at the top of Apple’s iTunes charts, according to Headline Planet.
If this response is any indication, he’ll soon find himself atop several other sales charts as well. And if the enthusiasm of his fans throughout the night on Thursday are any indication, he might find himself taking home some more trophies come awards seasons as well.
With 23 full-length tracks, the long-awaited release is a tour de force from the artist some have considered the “greatest of all time” in his field. It features collaborations with the late XXXtentacion, Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Ashanti, Travis Scott, Mack Maine, Nivea, Sosomann and his daughter, Reginae Carter.
You could practically share in the highs and lows of fans through social media as they experienced the full album, taking in Wayne’s powerful lyrics and strong messages. That engagement alone is a rarity in today’s single-driven music world. And one thing’s almost for certain.
This response has us jamming to the album on loop right now, but not shuffle. We need to experience it as the G.O.A.T. intended.
